Ten youths from across the Nordics have stood out from dozens of other applicants for this year’s Pioneer Prize for having showed impressive devotion to enhance the cohesion in their local community and create safer and more inclusive societies. The ten youths, who are no older than 25 years, are shortlisted to win the Nordic Pioneer Prize 2022, an initiative by the non-profit organization Nordic Safe Cities.
Ten candidates still have the chance to be awarded the Nordic Pioneer Prize 2022, which is given to four Nordic youth no older than 25 years of age. From the list of candidates four winners will be awarded 25.000 DKK each at prize ceremony which will held at the Odd Fellow Hall.
“The range of causes this year’s nominees work to promote is extremely wide but two major themes, which we also see in society as a whole, stand out from the list: female empowerment and anti-discrimination,” says Gustav Plantin, the project manager at Nordic Safe Cities.
“All nominees have demonstrated an inspirational devotion and dedication to improving society, which shines through in their various engagements, as a response to the great uncertainty and change characterizing theirs – and so many other youths’ future.
The shortlisted candidates go through a thorough selection process, starting with nominations and applications being read and discussed by the youths behind the Pioneer Prize at Nordic Safe Cities, as well as representatives from UNLEASH – a global innovation lab, who collaborate with youth talents on solutions contributing to UN’s SDGs.
The top 10 shortlisted candidates are called in for in-depth interview, before a youth jury will decide which 4 individuals to receive this year’s prize. The jury consists of 10 pioneering Nordic youths, all under the age of 30.
