Trygg By Norge

In 2020, we initiated the ‘Trygg by Norge’ (Safe Cities Norway) program in partnership with the Gjensidige Foundation to support local concepts and initiatives aimed at addressing hate, polarization, and extremism in Norway.Since the beginning of the program, the Gjensidige Foundation has allocated a total of 60 million Norwegian kroner to the development and implementation of new prevention concepts. The Trygg by Norge program involves over 80 leading professionals from 11 member cities and civil society organizations.

The initiatives developed in these cities are created in collaboration with the Gjensidige Foundation and Nordic Safe Cities, and they are tested and shared within our network of Nordic cities.

The Trygg by Norge collaboration functions as a learning network dedicated to developing and testing local initiatives and concepts based on research, knowledge, and experiences shared across the network, both in Norway and the broader Nordic region.

Trygg By Norge Arena

Every year, the Gjensidige Foundation and Nordic Safe Cities gather municipal practitioners, police, researchers, young changemakers and civil actors from the 11 Norwegian cities at Trygg By Norge Arena. At the Arena we collectively work to take the next steps towards creating safer, more cohesive, and democratic communities both off- and online.
