Bodø joins Nordic Safe Cities

A new member city joins Nordic Safe City. The Municipality of Bodø becomes the 21th member of the alliance.

The Norwegian contingent of member cities grows yet again in Nordic Safe Cities.

“We are thrilled to welcome Bodø to our alliance and we can’t wait to get to work with the great professionals and politicians in the municipality.” Says Lotte Fast Carlsen, our deputy director.

“By joining Nordic Safe Cities Bodø shows that they are very serious about making the city more diverse and inclusive, and I am sure we can learn a lot from them. Such as their ability to use culture to create more safety for the citizens, through new meeting places, cultural exchange, inclusive city planning and arts at all corners of the city spaces.”

“There is no doubt it will be interesting to follow them as they become the European Cultural Capital 2024.”

The second member city from Northern Norway

Bodø becomes the second municipality from the Northern part of Norway to join Nordic Safe Cities in little over a month. In September Tromsø also chose to join.

“Having two member cities from the Northern part of the country is an exciting prospect,” says Lotte Fast Carlsen.

“We’ll be able to share experiences and best-practices between two cities and environments that have similar challenges, but also contributes with a diverse approach to tackling these challenges.”

“Our group of Norwegian cities is incredibly strong, and every one of them also collaborate within our Trygg by Norge framework which now becomes even more diverse with the addition of Bodø,” says Lotte Fast Carlsen.
